about this event
Hooray for Harpywood is a concert with a conversation that takes a deep dive into how films are scored, from the nuts and bolts of spotting sessions to final dubbing, with an emphasis on the creative harp use in film scores.
David Ice
David Ice holds a unique place in history: he is the only professional harpist who was simultaneously an Oscar– and Emmy–nominated Hollywood film editor, working on television shows like M*A*S*H and feature films as a sound editor. He spent nearly a decade at 20th Century Fox, where his cutting room was next door to the famed Fox scoring stage. He was able to watch such noted film composers as Alex North, Bruce Broughton, Dave Grusin, James Horner, Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, and many others create their musical magic.
Classical Lounge Series curated by MusicaNova:
Join us for a series of cool classical concerts showcasing the work of wonderful Arizona classical musicians in a casual, informal setting. Repertoire will be light and lively; but not afraid to explore new works or lesser-known composers. With a goal to showcasing classical artists of color; the Classical Lounge curated by MusicaNova will be a great place to get your classical “fix” this fall. These concerts will feature socially distant seating protocols and small-music ensembles, to keep our artists and patrons safe.
