Detour Company Theatre presents two exciting productions in June. Two shows mean double the fun! Join us on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Come back on Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. for Once Upon a Mattress. These two musical comedies are sure to leave you laughing and smiling all the way home. 

Winner of the Tony® and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, features a fast-paced, wildly funny and touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and a vibrant score by William Finn for an unforgettable experience. 

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! A riotous ride, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a delightful den of comedic genius.
