about this event
Tito Muñoz, conductor
Concert Repertoire
Mendelssohn: Symphony no. 5 in D major, “Reformation” op. 107
Schumann: Symphony no. 2 in C major, op. 61
The first of two symphonies in this concert is Mendelssohn’s under-performed “Reformation” Symphony, a religious work with references to hymns and the styles of Beethoven and Mozart. Schumann’s Symphony no. 2, with clear inspiration from Bach, stands as an uplifting and heroic triumph in the face of his worsening health problems.
This event is a facility rental, and is not a part of the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts performance season.
