Alloy versus Steel Wheels

Alloy wheels are made of an alloy of aluminum, magnesium or both. Lighter than steel, alloy wheels offer some advantages:

  • Quicker acceleration and stopping
  • Less strain on suspension components, like shocks and struts
  • Better at keeping brake elements cooler
  • Easier to form into complex styles

Still, steel wheels have their place.

  • They're less expensive
  • They're easier to repair if damaged

Both will work fine. It's a matter of taste and budget that you choose.
